Mark Zuckerberg Wedding – The Hollywood Reporter
May 20th, 2012Closing out a week in which Facebook’s IPO dominated the news, Mark Zuckerberg and longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan have ensured the company’s CEO will remain in the spotlight a while longer.
The couple married Saturday in a small ceremony held in Zuckerberg’s backyard, reports the Associated Press. The marriage became known after the couple updated their Facebook relationship statuses to married and Zuckerberg changed his profile picture to a wedding photograph (yes, he wore a suit and tie).
PHOTOS: THR’s Social Media Poll: How Facebook and Twitter Impact the Entertainment Industry
Members of the media were quick to send the couple their well wishes. Film critic Richard Roeper tweeted “Mark Zuckerberg got married. Told you that Facebook stock would split!” Tim Carvel, head writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tweeted: “Congratulations, Mark Zuckerberg! As a gift, I got you the names of all my friends, a list of my favorite movies, and some photos of me!”
Members of the media who cover Silicon Valley had some fun with Zuckerberg’s no-tie public image. New York Times technology blogger Nick Bilton tweeted “he didn’t wear a hoodie!” Huffington Post editor Craig Kanalley tweeted: “I love how Mark Zuckerberg + Priscilla skipped the whole ‘Engaged’ status on Facebook, going right to ‘Married.’”
Chan, 27, graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco on Monday, Zuckerberg’s 28th birthday. Facebook stock ended trading Friday at $38 per share, and its IPO reportedly made thousands of the company’s employees millionaires.

'SNL' Recap – The Hollywood Reporter
May 20th, 2012Sir Mick Jagger brought the poise expected of a British knight and the flash expected of a rock legend as host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live’s season finale.
Jagger performed four times—with Foo Fighters, Jeff Beck, and twice with Arcade Fire. They were all terrific, but it was his last performance that packed the biggest punch, because it marked what was likely Kristen Wiig‘s final appearance on the SNL stage as a regular cast member.

Wiig had been rumored to be leaving SNL after this season, and the night’s final sketch appeared to confirm those rumors. It featured Jagger as a school head at a graduation ceremony. He called Wiig up (who took “seven years to graduate”) to serenade her with an Arcade Fire-assisted rendition of “She’s a Rainbow” and “Ruby Tuesday.”
One by one, cast members and SNL producer Lorne Michaels danced with a teary-eyed Wiig. Mad Men’s Jon Hamm and former cast member Amy Poehler were also on hand for the apparent sendoff.
Speaking of “Ruby Tuesday,” in his opening monologue, Jagger answered questions he is commonly asked by journalists.
Did he has any life regrets? Why, yes. Jagger once turned down an offer from Ruby Tuesdays restaurant to sing at their grand opening. He would have been paid $1000 and received a lifetime supply of jalapeno poppers.

Jagger said “not a day goes by” that he doesn’t regret turning the company down.
Later in the episode, Jagger played a mild mannered businessman at karaoke bar who had a crippling fear of singing in public. Meanwhile, his associate Rick (Fred Armisen) managed to impress the women they were with by singing the Stones’ “Start me up” and doing a great Jagger impersonation.

One of the women gushed that she might sleep with Rick because of how Jagger-like he was. The sketch ended with Jagger’s character, unable to conquer his fear of performing in public, singing a morose piano version of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” alone in the bar.
Jagger also got the opportunity to play another rock icon, Steven Tyler, for So You Think You Can Dance at an Outdoor Music Festival. Hosted by Dave Matthews (Bill Hader), the show parodied the types of colorful characters one might find at a music festival. Jagger played up Tyler’s over-the-top American Idol judging, while Armisen played a confused Carlos Santana, who could name just one of his own songs.

Cannes 2012: Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon's West Memphis …
May 17th, 2012CANNES — Devil’s Knot, Atom Egoyan‘s West Memphis Three biopic starring Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon, is moving full speed ahead.
New York-based motion picture production and investment company Worldview Entertainment will finance and produce the project, which The Weinstein Co. is debuting to foreign buyers at the Marche du Film this week in Cannes. CAA and WME are handling domestic rights.
Devil’s Knot is based on the 2002 best-seller by investigative journalist Mara Leveritt about the savage murders of three 8-year-old boys and the conviction of three teenagers accused of killing them as part of a satanic ritual. In August 2011, the defendants were released due to lack of evidence after spending 18 years in prison.

Actual defendants Jessie Misskelley Jr. and Jason Baldwin are executive producing Devil’s Knot with Worldview’s Molly Conners, Sarah Johnson Redlich, Maria Cestone and Hoyt David Morgan. Producers are Elizabeth Fowler, Clark Peterson, Richard Saperstein and Worldview CEO Christopher Woodrow.
The case of the West Memphis Three already has spawned a handful of documentaries, including West of Memphis, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. That film was directed by Amy J. Berg and produced by Peter Jackson and Damien Echols, the third defendant.
Paul Harris Boardman and Scott Derrickson penned the adapted script for Devil’s Knot.
PHOTOS: Cannes 2012 Competition Lineup
Egoyan is scheduled to being principal photography in Georgia in June.
“Worldview is excited to involved with such an important and relevant project,” Woodrow said. “We believe this story needs to be told onscreen, and we couldn’t ask for a higher caliber of talent to do so.”
Worldview is in production on Guillaume Canet‘s crime thriller Blood Ties, starring Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Marion Cotillard, Zoe Saldana, Mila Kunis and James Caan, and is in postproduction on James Gray‘s untitled epic period drama starring Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner. The company’s upcoming slate also includes Eran Creevy‘s British crime thriller Welcome to the Punch, starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong and Andrea Riseborough.
Worldview was founded in 2007 and is represented by CAA.

Hollywood Celebs Dodge Poker Court Battle
The Hollywood A-listers linked to the legal troubles of former poker buddy Bradley Ruderman can breathe a collective sigh of relief now that the case has been settled out of court.
Howard Ehrenberg, the bankruptcy trustee seeking to recoup as much as $5.2 million for investors that had been conned by Ruderman, told Celebuzz.com that all 22 defendants involved in Ruderman’s Hollywood poker game have settled for a total of $1.75 million. Among the celebs being sued by Ehrenberg were actor Tobey Maguire, film director Nick Cassavettes, and former High Stakes Poker host Gabe Kaplan.
Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio and Alex Rodriguez were also rumored to be a part of the underground game but were not facing legal action. With all 22 settlements secured, details of the illegal high-stakes games will stay out of the court room.
Ruderman is serving a 10-year prison sentence for running a Ponzi scheme to pay off debts. Ruderman operated a wire-fraud and investment-adviser fraud scheme that lost investors $25 million, and then allegedly lost another $5.2 million in the high-stakes poker games trying to win the money back.

Get Ready for Season XI
The World Poker Tour unveiled the first portion of its Season XI schedule on Wednesday. In addition to nearly a dozen stops in the regular WPT slate so far, there will be at least 13 tournaments on the WPT Regional and National schedule around the globe.
Season XI kicks off in Cyprus on Aug. 4 for the WPT Merit Cyprus Classic. The tour will then make stops in Pennsylvania, California, Paris, Malta, and many other destinations in the U.S. and Europe. The 11 Main Events on the schedule thus far feature buy-ins ranging from $3,500 to $10,300.
Before Season XI kicks off, the World Poker Tour is gearing up for the WPT Championship at Bellagio this weekend. The season X finale features a $25,500 Main Event plus the $100,000 re-entry WPT Super High Roller, both of which will be televised by Fox Sports Net.

Bwin.Party Poker Revenues Slump
Bwin.party’s poker revenue for the first quarter of 2012 was down 3 percent to €52.2 million from last year’s €54 million, according to a statement released by the company on Wednesday.
“The poker market remains challenging across Europe,” said co-CEOs Jim Ryan and Norbert Teufelberger. “While the number of unique players in our bingo business has started to grow again during the first quarter, this was not enough to reverse the impact of a drop in market share that took place in 2011.”
Average daily poker revenue increased by 1 percent over the previous quarter, but daily revenue fell by 4 percent from the prior year to €573,600. Average daily players dropped 15 percent year-on-year to 96,700, which the company blamed on “low value affiliates towards direct marketing”
Last week, bwin.party joined forces with an Indian Tribe to provide online poker services in California once the activity is legalized. The company has also applied for a Nevada gaming license with the Nevada Gaming Control Board following the state’s approval of online poker regulations.
“In the United States, we continue to ensure we are well-positioned should regulation take place at either a state or a federal level,” the company said in Wednesday’s statement. “In California, where we announced an agreement with United Auburn Indian Community last week, the debate over a bill to regulate intrastate online poker continues and we expect its first hearing later this month or early next.”
You can find the complete financial statement at bwinparty.com.
Duhamel Still Leading Global Poker Index Player of the Year
There were no changes in the top 10 of the Global Poker Index Player of the Year standings this week, meaning Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel maintained the top spot for the 12th consecutive week. The award, which is presented by PokerNews, honors the player who has the strongest performance in live tournaments during the calendar year, according to the USA Today Global Poker Index point system.
Duhamel kept his lead over the rest of the world with 595.68 points, 61 points more than American pro Dan Smith, who climbed to No. 2 last week after a productive trip to Monaco for the 2012 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final. Andrew Badecker, Samuel Chartier and Bertrand Grospellier rounded out the top five in the rankings, respectively.
Faraz Jaka fell just shy of a return to the top 10. Jaka moved up 18 spots to No. 11 this week after a pair of cashes at Pokerstars IPT San Remo. Borge Dypvik (up 68 spots to No. 29), Scott Baumstein (up 51 spots to No. 35) and Igor Kurganov (up 48 spots to No. 43) were among the other big movers this week.

Online Poker Traffic Report
Online poker traffic plunged by 8.2 percent last week, according to tracking site PokerScout.com. The decline was mostly because of the end of PokerStars’ 80 Billionth Hand promotion, which attracted as many as 80,000 real-money cash game players at a single time.
Not surprisingly, PokerStars took a 15 percent hit last week, but the world’s leading poker site continued its stranglehold on the competition. PokerStars has seen an 18 percent traffic increase since this time last year, an impressive feat in the wake of Black Friday. While PokerStars has thrived, No. 2 iPokerNetwork (down 6 percent) and No. 3 PartyPoker (down 20 percent) have seen falloffs since last May.
As for the year-over-year numbers worldwide, online poker traffic has declined by 18 percent over the past year. After the virtual extinction of Full Tilt Poker and the CEREUS Network, sites like 888poker (up 42 percent) and Winamax.fr (up 28 percent) have taken advantage by scooping up some of the available business.

Durrrr Speak
This makes two days in a row with a Tom Dwan interview in The Nightly Turbo. But when “durrrr” speaks, the world listens. And his latest interview with the PartyPoker Blog is particularly amusing.
During the PartyPoker Premier League V in Vienna, Dwan chatted about the talents (or lack thereof) of several of his competitors, including Tony G, Erik Seidel, Bertrand Grospellier, Patrik Antonius and Luke Schwartz. We’re still anxiously awaiting a Dwan versus Schwartz heads-up-for-rolls match.

“….the World Poker Tour is gearing up for the WPT Championship at Bellagio this weekend…”
I played one of the earlier events, and the ugly rumor that Bellagio threw together a makeshift tournament area by cramming far too many tables between a bunch of slot machines and a busy walkway is just someone’s idea of a sick joke.
The Bellagio is beautiful. It has that… what’s the word.. “mystique”. It’s practically The Church of Poker… and we should feel honored and privileged that they allow us to pray there.. i mean play there.

Wango Tango 2012 – The Hollywood Reporter
May 14th, 2012Big Time Rush members Kendall Schmidt and Logan Henderson are giving back. The group recently announced that they are working with legendary guitar manufacturer Fender for their Fender Music Foundation.
The Nickelodeon stars will design an exclusive guitar for Fender and for every one that is sold, one will be donated to a school that doesn’t have enough funding for their music program.

“Music was so huge between middle school and high school age for me, so that was my escape. It’s going to be really cool to pay it forward,” Henderson told The Hollywood Reporter at KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango concert.
The boys also shared their hopes to be able to visit one of the schools that ends up receiving a guitar and to “Maybe teach kids songs.”
“It means a lot to us,” Schmidt said. “There’s not enough music in schools anymore.”
The duo arrived without the other half of their group members, not to perform, but to experience their first Wango Tango and see their labelmates Foster the People take the stage. “We love KIIS-FM, they’ve always supported us from the beginning,” Schmidt said. “So we’re just excited to be here.”
Although Big Time Rush was initially brought together to play bandmates on their eponymous Nickelodeon show, they have received crossover success in the music industry with their debut album BTR peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. The group is currently preparing to embark on a North American summer tour, which kicks off July 5 in Columbus, OH. Not to worry international fans, Schmidt told THR that the group is preparing to add a few surprise additions to their tour. “I think we’re doing 60-something dates in America and Canada, and then we might possibly be going to some foreign countries,” he teased. “We are, but we can’t tell you yet.”
For more from THR‘s interview with BTR, in which they name their favorite current radio hit, watch the video above.
